Gardeners find live fish in their frozen rainwater barrels

A cool video has emerged of fish found alive in a frozen barrel.

The footage, shot last month in Allerod, Denmark, captures the moment a group of gardeners found two live fish as they emptied water barrels that had frozen.

"We are a group of people who grow vegetables and flowers organically," the filmer explained, "it is our little paradise."

"The only problem is that, we don't have water or electricity, so we have to collect rainwater in order to water our plants in dry periods.

"But when you have a water reservoir, you also have mosquitos, and they are a pain, so we catch fish and put them in the barrels, they will eat all the larvae before they fly away on their blood-hunt," he added.

"But when the winter comes, the ice will break the barrels so we have to empty them, and to our surprise the fish were doing very well under the ice."
