Peru: Mining Exonerations

The copper mining operation of US company Freeport McMoRan in Peru registered a 700% increase in profits over the past year but the company is still paying the same in taxes that it has for the past 17 years. The finding is part of an investigation by the Ojo-Publico portal, which includes another 10 mining companies that use legal schemes to avoid paying regular tax increases even during boom periods.
