BATHINDA CITY, INDIA — A young pregnant woman’s life was cut short on December 3 after she was hit by a stray bullet fired during a wedding celebration in India.

Moments before her death, Kulwinder Kaur, 24, was performing a dance routine on stage with three other women. She and her friends caught the attention of a group of men who wanted to dance with them. They attempted to get on stage to do so.

Unfortunately for the men, they were refused by security and escorted away from the stage area. They weren’t too thrilled about being rejected, so they decided to grab some guns and fire shots into the air, as some have been known to do at Indian weddings. One of the men, Lucky Goyal, was shooting with a long gun, from which a stray bullet struck Kulwinder Kaur on stage.

Kulwinder crumpled to the ground. She was rushed to the hospital, but died along the way. Her husband claims she was midway through her first trimester of pregnancy. Meanwhile, the four men have been arrested and are now facing charges for her untimely death.
