RFactor 2 - Donington Park National circuit - Skip Barber Formula 2000 race - 12 laps.

It's the iRacing rookie weapon of choice, the "Skippy", brought to life in RFactor 2. I've watched a lot of videos of these things from iRacing Youtubers so it was interesting to climb into this version and see what the fascination is.

I have to say that these cars take you back to school - try and drive them like a GT3 and you'll spend more time digging your way out of gravel traps than circulating the track. I have no idea how the Rfactor version compares to the iRacing one, but the fun factor is very high, even though they are not particularly high powered cars.

The AI on this race were set to 85% and they were pretty unpredictable, frequently swerving across the track, losing control and generally behaving like rookies :-) In spite of this, the racing was pretty intense, not knowing exactly what to expect whenever AI drivers were around me. I don't think the laptimes were exactly stellar but I was happy enough with the race.

The spotter was pretty annoying at times - still experimenting with the settings on that plugin so apologies for that. I ran the car in its stock setup and as you will see, my tyres were struggling to get up to temperature, as were the brakes. However, tyre wear was negligible and although the car was twitchy, treat it gently and it is very rewarding - I was just glad to have kept it on the track!

Highly recommended - just be prepared for a little schooling if you've never driven them before.
