Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard returns to club as academy coach

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is returning to the club he spent 17 years at as an academy coach. Liverpool have described Gerrard's role as "wide-ranging" and he will serve under academy director Alex Inglethorpe. "It feels like completing the circle; returning to the place where professionally it all began. However, this isn’t a decision based on emotion – it’s about what I can offer and contribute to Liverpool." Gerrard ended his 18-year career in November, retiring from the LA Galaxy in order to transition to a coaching role somewhere.
