Cruise Ship Collides With Vessel in Timaru Port

Luxury cruise ship Seabourn Encore collided with another vessel, the Milburn Carrier II, on February 12 in the port of Timaru, New Zealand.Radio New Zealand quoting harbour master Jim Dilley reported “there were mooring issues with the ship and a strong southerly wind blew it away from the wharf.” Another report from New Zealand Herald quotes a witness as saying “wind strengthened and up to four of the ship’s mooring lines broke.” Both ships sustained damage.
An inquiry has been launched by two investigators from the Transport Accident Commission.
