Niantic set to unleash first major update for Pokémon GO players

Tech Crunch reports that players will be able to find “over 80” new Johto Pokémon (those from 1999’s Pokémon Gold and Silver games, otherwise known as “Generation II”) within the next few days. New “evolution” items required to make certain Pokémon evolve are being added. Evolution items will come from Pokéstops. Two new types of berries, Ninab and Pinap, are being introduced to the game and help with slowing down Pokémon and doubling the amount of candy you receive upon a successful catch. There are also new avatar items like shirts, hats and pants.
