Physical Activity Can Lead to Avoiding Chronic Pain in Seniors

A new study published by Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, revealed that levels of physical activity in senior aged adults showed various levels of pain could act as a protective mode in helping them to avoid developing chronic pain. Scientist studied 51 healthy active adults ages 60 to 77 through the use of activity monitors for one week measuring their level of physical activity and pain modulation. The monitors recorded the way pain was interpreted and perceived by the central nervous system. According to UPI "participants who performed more light physical activity or had less sedentary time during the day had lower pain scores on the conditioned pain modulation test."
