That cracked cell phone screen may soon be able to repair itself

Scientists have been working on a 'self-healing' material that may be available for smartphones as soon as 2020. The material would be able to stitch itself back together from damages in less than 24 hours. The 2015 LG G Flex 2 is an example of a smartphone that already has a back panel capable of repairing every day scratches within seconds. “Within three years, more self-healing products will go to market and change our everyday life. It will make our cellphones achieve much better performance than what they can achieve right now.” -- Chao Wang (Chemist for the project)
