China’s First Big Passenger Jet Wants To Compete In The Skies

by Andrew CaringiChina is looking to fly with the big birds with its first-ever passenger jetliner. The Comac C919, China’s first domestically-built large jet, aims to rival industry leaders Boeing and Airbus. The twin-engine plane flew its maiden flight on Friday. It seats 158 passengers and can fly more than 2,500 miles on a single tank. The technology is similar to the latest Boeing and Airbus jets. But those jets are both cheaper for airlines to buy, meaning China is still years away from competing in the aviation industry.
