Study Shows Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Really Was Bogged Down By Her Emails

Since the 2016 election, Hillary Clinton has cited matters relating to her emails as being some of the bigger blows to her campaign.
While a number of people have dismissed such assertions as little more than weak and unfounded excuses, a new study suggests she’s likely right.
Pollsters and political scientists hailing from Gallup, the University of Michigan, and Georgetown University have determined that her campaign really was bogged down by the topic. The team came to the conclusion after analyzing results from past daily Gallup tracking polls regarding Clinton and Trump, reports CNN.
Participants had been asked, “Have you read, seen or heard anything about (Hillary Clinton/Donald Trump) in the last day or two?"
Researchers focused on affirmative responses given from July 10 to November 2016 and the words people used to characterize what information they’d come across.
During that period, Clinton’s top word was, and by an overwhelmingly amount, ‘email.’ Further, it was determined that ‘email’ was an indicator of negative views.
Trump, on the other hand, had a number of dominant words that appeared equally weighted and weren’t bad overall. They included some loaded topics like ‘women’ but were largely neutral, such as ‘debate,’ ‘speech,’ and ‘talking.’
The Huffington Post reports that Michael Traugott, one of the researchers, notes that America’s ongoing fixation with the email issue diminished focus on Clinton’s platform.
He commented, “Because [what Americans recalled] was primarily about the emails, it didn’t leave, relatively speaking, very much room for the issues.”
