The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces reached the Sinaa neighborhood on the east side of Raqqa, Islamic State’s de facto capital, on June 12, according to activist media, Kurdish sources and the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.The Sinaa neighborhood is adjacent Raqqa’s Old City. SDF forces were also advancing from the west of Raqqa as part of a major offensive to take the city.
