A Computer That Reads Your Mood?
by Anthony FalcoDo you want your computer to read your mood?A Carnegie Mellon team is developing a robot that can recognize body language. Researchers say this technology could open up new ways for humans and robots to interact with each other based on intuition and emotion. The project’s team used a massive database of virtual gestures made up of thousands of views of human movement to develop a so-called ‘neural network’ from which the robot can interpret human actions. The robot was able to detect the position of hands, fingers, and other body movements in real time by using a single camera and a laptop. The research team say the tech has applications in sports analytics or as service staff in social settings.Let’s just hope the robot doesn’t misread the cues and fall in love.
