Eagles release Ryan Matthews following medical clearance

Running back Ryan Matthews suffered a herniated disk in his neck in last season's Week 16 game against the Giants. The Eagles released him and issued this statement: "We are glad that Ryan is healthy, but given the current state of our running back position, we feel like it is best for both sides to go in a different direction." Matthews finished the season with 661 rush yard and eight touchdowns.
