**Controversy: Though J. R. R. Tolkien originally included Dagor Dagorath in his early writings for what would become the Silmarillion, in later life he scraped the idea, and removed mentions of it from future writings. His son therefore did not include it in the published version of the Silmarillion. However, the original Tolkien writings were never altered. And the fan community is split on whether or not to take it as canon. The in video explanation of a Numenorean legend, is a compromise some have adopted within the community.**\r
