Meeting traffic with clutch control in traffic is looked at in this video and when to change gears. If youre learning to drive a manual car/stick shift and preparing for your driving test then this video will be ideal for you. This video will also help if you want to understand the clutch and when to change gears.\r

The general rule when meeting traffic is if the obstruction is on your side of the road then you would have to stop for oncoming road users. If the obstruction is on the other side of the road then you would have priority. Obstructions on both sides and then no one has right of way.\r

When theres obstructions on both sides then use your anticipation skills when meeting traffic. Make eye cont with the other road user, try and judge who is going to take control of the situation. If the oncoming vehicle is in the middle of the road and theyre not slowing down then you can anticipate that they want you to stop. If theyre slowing down and moving out of your way then they probably want you to go through.\r

Constantly look our for spaces that you could use when meeting traffic. Plan ahead as usual and be ready for the worst. \r

Dont stop too close to the kerb when waiting for oncoming as it will be hard to steer out of the space and road users behind might think that youve parked. Dont stop too close to the parked vehicle in front either as it will also be hard to steer back out again. Be ready to move out of the space and make it easy for yourself.\r

Use your mirrors constantly as you move into the space when meeting traffic and when you go back out again. When driving at slow speed you can expect cyclists to possibly catch up with you on the left or right of you so be careful. \r
