We have always loved the way classic fairy tales are told. And am fascinated how children love them while many adults find them horrific. From a adult mentality they do seem unnecessary brutal and gruesome, but from a childs emotional standpoint they make a lot of sense, and relate to their outlook of the world.\r

Hansel and Gretel is story that we as adults see as horrible. The father leaves his children to starve because he cannot take care of them. A witch tries to eat them and then they kill her in self defense. A seemingly traumatizing story. But in a childs life its a story they can relate to. A young child will often feel abandoned when a parent leaves. Just look how a toddler cries when a parent leaves the room or is left with a babysitter. A stranger who looks, smells, and res differently. They have no idea what will happen to them. They could even be eaten. They wander off trying to get home unless stopped by this frightening giant set to watch over them. Since a child has no concept of death only pain they often lash out to protect themselves. To them in this unexplainable world this story makes sense.\r
