This easy cake makes a great birthday centerpiece. Very good for fathers day, boys birthdays, parties or for fans of trucks and diggers.\r
Ingredients:\r
1. 2 boxes of banana cake mix (or use any of your choice; or use 1 box of cake mix; or make your own favorite recipe)\r
2. Dark chocolate frosting\r
3. Vanilla frosting\r
4. Yellow gel food coloring Wilton or Americolor\r
5. 1 Crunchie chocolate bar, crushed\r
6. 1 Violet Crumble chocolate bar, crushed\r
7. Mini milk choc bits\r
8. Mini Fruchocs or chocolate sultanas\r
9. Dark Fruchocs\r
10. Flake chocolate bar or use Tee Vee malt sticks, crushed\r
11. Different plastic trucks and diggers for decoration\r
Method:\r
1. Preheat oven to 180C (or according instruction on your cake box). Spray two round springform baking tins 20cm (8inch) with cooking spray and line with baking paper (or use one baking tin if you like to make smaller). \r
2. Mix and bake cakes according instruction on the box. Once baked, let cool. \r
3. Tint vanilla frosting with yellow gel food coloring to resemble sand.\r
4. Place one cake on top of cake board and spread with yellow color frosting (make sure leave most of yellow color frosting for decorating quarry!). Place second cake on top. Then cut large wedge out of the cake to make look like a quarry (do not cut straight through leave about 3cm (1 1/4inch) of the bottom part of cake; it makes easy to decorate).\r
5. Apply yellow frosting to make it look like quarry. Apply dark chocolate frosting for the rest of cake. Use crushed Crunchie and Violet Crumble bars for the decorate quarry to look like rocks. Use mini choc milk bits, mini fruchocs, dark fruchocs and crushed flake bar for decorating top of the cake. Place various plastic trucks and diggers to decorate cake. If you like crush some chocolate biscuits or oreos and sprinkle on top of cake board to resemble dirt.
