Mugabe Assured Safety & Granted Immunity Following Resignation

According to sources close to negotiations on Thursday, Zimbabwe's former president Robert Mugabe has been granted immunity from prosecution and his safety in his home country guaranteed as part of a deal that led to his resignation. Mugabe, after over a thirty year reign, stepped down on Thursday, ending a standoff that began when the army seized power last week. Emmerson Mnangagwa, the former vice president sacked by Mugabe earlier this month, is set to be sworn in as president on Friday.
