Dambusters to fly once more! MoD changes world class squadron for 'unique mission'
THE Dambusters squadron will fly again after the Service of Barrier reported it was transforming the celebrated internationally first class drive. The 617 Squadron will be accountable for the MoD's most progressive battle fly - the multi-million pound stealth F-35B and will be in operation from next year.Head of the new group Wing Leader John Butcher said the first Dambusters group would be "very stunned" by the new forefront warplane.Formed at RAF Scampton amid the Second World War on Walk 21, 1943 the first 617 Squadron was set up particularly to crush Germany's real dams utilizing the renowned "ricocheting bombs".Despite the squadron's amazing status, their challenging strikes notwithstanding being made into a 1955 film featuring Michael Redgrave and Richard Todd, it was disbanded in 2014.
