Video of a lion attack on a toddler recently resurfaced online … The incident occurred in 2003 and gave everyone a scare. A Mexican TV show called Con Sello de Mujer featured two lion trainers who brought along a juvenile lion … which was allowed to sit in close proximity to the child and her mother. The lion cub seemed tranquil at first … but the child began to whine, and that upset the animal, sending it into a frenzy. The cub lunged toward the baby, grabbing her leg in its teeth. Mother and child both screamed in terror as the two trainers wrestled the animal away from the child. After some tense moment where the female trainer told everyone to relax and to stay still, the animal released the child, and the lion was led offstage. Thankfully, a potential tragedy was avoided. One might ask why the lion -- pretty big even though it was a juvenile -- was allowed to sit so close to an infant. For the record, lions are known to attack between 550 to 700 humans per year. Fewer than 100 people are killed by the animals per year.\r

Humans -- Of all the animals listed here, humans are arguably the deadliest because they kill with intent. The ex number of death caused by this species is difficult to calculate, given their involvement with all types of potentially lethal conflicts that occur on the local to international level.
