French village isolated as snow pounds region

The avalanche risk is at its maximum (5 out of 5) for the second time this winter in several French departments, according to Meteo France. In the Chamonix valley, some sixty cottages at the foot of avalanche corridors have been evacuated and certain roads have been closed to traffic, isolating villages like Le Tour, which stands at 1,450 metres above sea level.
