An avalanche-detection system with a built-in camera fell victim to the force of nature after a strong avalanche swept it down a mountain near Zermatt, Switzerland, on January 22.Video captured the moment the avalanche hit and quickly engulfed the device in snow. The device’s operator, Geopraevent, said no one was hurt as a result of the avalanche.The village of Zermatt was closed off and put on the highest alert level for avalanche threat on January 20, following heavy snowfall in the area.
