7 - Area 51: Many people know of Area 51, although few have ually been to see it. The military outpost located near Groom Lake in Nevada is an extension of Edwards Air Force Base. The government is very tight lipped about what happens there, although most believe it is a test area for secret weapons and aircraft still under development. It is also the place where conspiracy theorists claim the alien space ship and survivors were taken after crash landing in nearby Roswell New Mexico. The area is completely off limits to the public and includes a host of measures to keep it that way, including 24 hour surveillance, cameras, underground motion sensors, and guards with the ability to employ deadly force if anyone is caught on the property. Even the employees that work there have to take a special military aircraft in order to access the base. \r

6 - Google Data Centers: Google is one of the biggest tech companies in the world, and their massive data centers process much of the information that travels across the Internet. They are therefore very protective of this data and have implemented both digital and physical barriers to access it, including fences, checkpoints, badges, and iris scans. And those are just the ones they admit to. There are others that they refuse to disclose. Very little is known of the facilities as no public tours are allowed.\r
5 - Bank of England Vault: Hidden beneath the streets of London is a secret vault that holds the gold reserves of England and multiple other countries. It is said to hold over 4600 tons of gold, with an estimated market value of two hundred billion dollars. The area is highly restricted. You cannot enter the vault unless you are an employee of the Queen or a member of the security team. And in a throwback to medieval times you will also need a special three foot long key and know the secret password. Were guessing its not “open sesame”.\r

4 - RAF Menwith Hill: The Royal Air Force Menwith Hill base is one of the biggest electronic monitoring stations in the world. It contains a secret satellite operations center to monitor communications and also operates as a missile warning site. The base is a joint operation between England and the United States, and is said to include a direct link to the NSA. The base is also the ground station for many satellites owned by the US National Reconnaissance Office. In 1999 a BBC report claimed that a member of the Australian government stated that the equipment at Menwith Hill could intercept any communication on Earth. Naturally there are no tours of this secret installation and the US and British governments deny its existence. \r

3 - Moscow Metro-2: Metro-2 in Moscow is supposedly a secret train tunnel beneath Moscow, although the Russian government refuses to confirm or deny its existence. It is rumored that Joseph Stalin built the tunnel so that Russian government officials and the KGB could easily move around the city. Four lines purportedly connect from a central location to KGB outposts around the city. \r

2 - Vatican Secret Archive: The Vatican Secret Archive is known to house many important and historically significant documents, such as Galileos trial transcript, letters from Abraham Lincoln, and letters from King Henry the Eighth. The archives were originally created in 1612 by Pope Paul the Fifth. Many speculate as to what the archive holds that is not public, after all its very name spells out that it is a secret archive. The archive is protected by the Swiss Guards and only scholars may enter with a temporary pass that expires in 6 months.\r
