East Howdon took the lead in the 4th minute when winger Gerard Deulofeu got on the end of an Alex Hunter cross to fire an unstoppable diving header past Team of the Week goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Hunter made space for himself to collect Willian’s throw in from the right then floated an inch-perfect cross into the centre of the penalty area where it was met by Gerard Deulofeu, who found himself in acres of space after shaking his marker Jesse Lingard with his late run into the box. Deulofeu had plenty of time to aim a powerful header into the bottom corner of Schmeichel’s goal, leaving the Danish international with no chance.
With both goalkeepers in fine form, neither side was able to add to the scoreline. Brazilian left-back Alex Telles was awarded Man of the Match as East Howdon held onto their lead to record a hard-fought 1-0 victory over FUT Team of the Week 28.
