People & Business - From Bathrooms Cleaner to Shank Tank Prodigy, the Entrepreneurial Journey You Can’t Afford to Miss

A young man traveled to Los Angeles from Republic of Dominic with the dreams of becoming a rock star.

But that didn’t work out.

The now impoverished immigrant began to work janitorial jobs to be able to survive.

Soon enough, he managed to pull together enough savings to pay for a management course at UCLA.

All hope seemed to be lost for him.

Then this happened…

He was at the local gym and noticed how gym users had issues with their lockers. And that struck him with an idea.

An idea so innovative, after 3 years of crafting and soliciting help to build (due to no tech experience), that he was named CES 2017 Innovation Award Honoree.

Young Robbie and his innovation – BenjiLock (that allowed people to open their padlocks using their fingerprints) were on the lips of hundreds.
He then returned to LA and pitched BenjiLock to Shark Tank producers several times until he landed a $200000 investment deal with Kevin O’Leary.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling, when you come from the bottom and then go up, you kind of appreciate the journey more.”

Robbie Cabral.
