In our digital age, personal and corporate data can spread over networks at light speed. If you don't care, it can be intercepted, accessed, replicated. And you won't know.
Why? The reason is that personal data is the petroleum of the XXIst century, and also the ultimate way for intelligence agencies to track all details of our life. Internet, cloud services, connected objects, applications: all that leaks and feeds digital giant companies that convert it to billion dollars, and can be used by state agencies to deploy surveillance programs without our agreement.
And how do we fit in that situation?
1- many of us just aren't informed about that situation. They just trust or they don't want to know. This represents the vast majority of users, but they are long-term victims and they fuel mass servitude.
2- some of us are aware of those facts, but they accept it. "I've nothing to hide". This is a respectable choice as long as it's a conscious choice. This is voluntary servitude.
3- more and more people do not accept this situation. They want to regain control over their privacy. They think that data-slavery is not a fate.
At eelo, we want to address the needs of this third category with cool products and services, for both individuals and corporations.
Like a digital plumber, we are supporting privacy against data leakages. For this, we will:
- spread knowledge about data leakage and privacy concerns, informing users. In one word: evangelize.
- provide credible alternatives to our growing community of resistant fighters.
In particular, eelo is going to release digital products that respect users more, and increase their privacy. We will federate and improve sustainable alternatives into a global and consistent ecosystem. We will release private email solutions, online office solutions, mobile operating systems at a no or very low cost. And we will release cool and desirable products.
For 20 years, I've been an actor of the open source community. I've created two significant alternatives to proprietary solutions, such as Mandrake Linux that had a big success.
