Volkswagen's all-electric future previewed with new ID concept at Paris 2016

One year on from the diesel emissions scandal that rocked the motoring world, VW has set out its vision for an alternatively fuelled, autonomous future with the Volkswagen I.D. concept. Revealed at the Paris Motor Show, the concept previews a compact electric car that will be the first of a fleet of ‘highly innovative’ EVs that will hit the road in 2020.

With a claimed range of between 249 to 373 miles, the Volkswagen I.D. can be recharged wirelessly to avoid the hassle of having to plug your EV in at night or at work. There’s also the option to plug the I.D. into the mains as with current EVs, with the German brand claiming an 80 per cent re-charge takes 30 minutes.
