U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his Chinese counterpart, Yang Jiechi , have agreed on the need to address the threat North Korea poses to regional stability,... signaling that unless they're sure that North Korea is committed to take steps towards denuclearization, they're not going to loosen up international pressure on the regime.
The U.S. State Department said in a statement that Pompeo and Yang reached the agreement in a telephone conversation on Saturday ahead of the North Korea-U.S. summit.
The two officials discussed having high-level talks between China and the U.S. during the latter half of this year.
