The wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle actually had more American viewers than Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011. The elder prince's wedding got 23 million viewers while 17 million viewers watched their father, Prince Charles, marry their mother Diana in 1981. Despite 14 different TV networks sending representatives to the wedding, viewers also tuned on social media with 6.9 million interactions coming from across both Facebook and Twitter, per Nielsen.
