Because if you dont check the dimensions (or a cheeky seller doesnt include them in their listing) then you might just end up with something much smaller than you were hoping for. This can be because youve ordered a childs chair or tent, for example. Or it might be because youve ordered a piece of dolls house furniture. The issue of size applies to fashion too. Sometimes you buy a new outfit and it turns out to be a mini version for a pet, or a child or even a doll. But then there are the online shopping fashion fails that involve totally misleading advertising. You look at a dress on the Internet and it seems amazing – just the perfect thing for your prom. But when it arrives, not so much. Dodgy cut. Cheap material. Ugly dress. And there are also occasions when the online shopper hasnt used the zoom function to its full capabilities, and hasnt noticed a very x-rated print on what they thought was a pretty new PJ set. \r

The worst case of false advertising, however, is when an online shop shows a picture of a pair of shoes, and you order in good faith, only to have a completely different style or color arrive.
