Motorists hold game of rugby on closed motorway

A group of lads made the most of traffic misery after a busy road was closed - by starting a game of RUGBY on the empty motorway. The men abandoned their cars in nose-to-tail traffic on the northbound carriageway of the M5 and stepped over the barrier to the southbound road. They got a football out and started throwing the ball around on the empty tarmac near Taunton, Somerset, while they waited for the road to be re-opened yesterday (Thurs) morning. Photographer Lawrie Richardson, 31, took a photo near junction 25 after it made him giggle. He said: "It struck me as typically British to make the most of the situation by having a game of rugby to pass the time."
