Smoke fills the air in the Russian World Cup city of Kazan, Tatarstan, during a massive fire at the Port shopping mall.

The fire occurred on Tuesday (June 5) and the emergency services are having trouble subduing the flames. There is also a chance the structure could collapse completely.

"Because of the very high temperature there is a threat of collapse – the temperature is more than 1,000 degrees. Firefighters can not yet get close to the fire," a spokesman for the Tatarstan branch of Russia's Emergencies Ministry, Andrei Rodygin, told RIA Novosti.

There are currently no reports of any deaths or injuries.

Russian state media is saying that there were no visitors inside and all staff were safely evacuated.

But the blaze is likely to cause alarm so close to the World Cup, which starts next week.
