Mike Pence: 'The Fact Is Russia Meddled' In 2016 Election

Mike Pence on Tuesday weighed in on Russia's meddling in the 2016 election.

Vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday addressed Russia's meddling in the 2016 election while delivering remarks at the DHS National Cybersecurity Summit.
"The fact is Russia meddled in our 2016 elections," Pence said. "That is the unambiguous judgment of our intelligence community, and as the president said, we accept the intelligence community's conclusion."
"Russia's goal was to sow discord and division and weaken the American people's faith in our democracy," Pence continued. "While no actual votes were changed, any attempt to interfere in our elections is an affront to our democracy and it will not be allowed."
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen made similar remarks earlier in the day.
"Two years ago, a foreign power launched a brazen, multi-faceted influence campaign ... to distort our presidential election," Nielsen stated during an opening roundtable at the cybersecurity summit. "Let me be clear: Our intelligence community had it right. It was the Russians."
These remarks follow President Trump's recent tweets against special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe.
"There is No Collusion! The Robert Mueller Rigged Witch Hunt, headed now by 17 (increased from 13, including an Obama White House lawyer) Angry Democrats, was started by a fraudulent Dossier, paid for by Crooked Hillary and the DNC. Therefore, the Witch Hunt is an illegal Scam!" Trump tweeted on Sunday.
