Denmark enforces burqa ban amid protests
Hundreds have taken to the streets of Copenhagen to protest a ban on wearing face-covering garments in public.
Around 13-hundred people -- mostly women -- sported masks, niqabs and full-body burqas, as they marched,... despite the various penalties including an 120 U.S. dollar fine for first-time offenders or up to six months in jail for repeated offences.
Those who oppose the so-called Burqa Ban say the law oppresses the rights of women to dress as they want,... and targets a religious minority.
Under the law, authorities can order women to remove their veils or leave public areas.
Denmark has become the fifth European country to enforce a law on full-face garments.
