Japanese emperor’s ‘deep remorse’ for second world war

Japan’s Emperor Akihito marked the 73rd anniversary of the end of the second world war by expressing his “deep remorse” over the conflict. It was 84-year-old Akihito’s final official war-end anniversary speech as reigning monarch. Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe vowed never to repeat the horrors of war.
