Otaku Evolution Episode 126 - Lupin III: The Fuma Conspiracy

Other than the little bit of Halloween atmosphere for my previous episode, I haven't done any bookmark/story material since the Mid Year English Dub Review back in July. Probably a bit of this stuff for the rest of the year's videos (which isn't many), probably something in the beginning of next year, but I've still cut this stuff down, and it's mostly just for fun, screwing around with sprites and backgrounds. I'm sure nobody cares about the story about the Penguin Union, Zuel, etc. But you can always skip it, it doesn't interrupt the review portion.

So, yeah, The Fuma Conspiracy is a noteworthy feature. A single, long-formed OVA, basically a movie, it follows the Lupin gang's scramble to get to a family's hidden treasure before a group of ninjas do, all while Zenigata pursues them. Not very unlike your average Lupin feature in that regard, but very well constructed in terms of production values, settings, the chase scenes, and some of the action and comedy. I call it a spiritual successor to Castle of Cagliostro, because it shares a few of the same visual and emotional touchstones. Too bad the English dub is substandard, but I'll get into that at the end of the year. Just enjoy a short rundown and some highlights that illustrate why I think so highly of this title.

I'm hoping to get a couple more videos out this month, but don't hold me to it. I have to start planning that Christmas episode. It'll probably be a little scaled down from previous years.
