It's an annual tradition for U.S. News and World Report to rank the best diets for the year ahead. And according to Business Insider, for 2019 the Mediterranean diet took the top spot for the first year ever. A panel of nutritionists and specialists in diabetes, heart health, and weight loss reviewed 41 diets in order to determine the best ones. Some other popular diets in the rankings are the popular "keto" diet, Atkins, and Weight Watchers. The concept for the Mediterranean diet comes from countries that border the Mediterranean sea, where people have eaten produce, nuts, and healthy fats for centuries.
