‘not surprised’ about the snub. Cooper did receive a nod from the Directors Guild on his involvement in the film. The Academy has been known to ignore actors who turn to directing in the past. Most notably, Ben Affleck's directorial effort in 'Argo.' The film was Cooper’s
directorial debut. It brought in eight nominations,
including best actor for the
44 year old. The Academy Awards airs February 24th.
