Outrage over 26% hike in power tariff in Delhi - NewsX

Already battling high inflation, people in Delhi will have to shell out more for electricity from July 1 with the city's power regulator DERC has announced a steep hike of around 26 percent in tariff for domestic consumers. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit gave hints of providing some relief to poor consumers from the steep 26 per cent hike in power tariff after a number of Congress MPs and MLAs criticized the increase and sought steps to insulate the economically weaker section. "We are thinking over it, the world survives on hope," Dikshit said when asked whether government will provide subsidy to the poor consumers.
