An explosion of unknown origin rocked the historic centre of Istanbul on Tuesday, causing casualties, reports said.
Turkish authorities suspect a terror attack was the cause of Tuesday's blast in the main tourist hub of Istanbul that has left 10 people dead, a government official said. "Terrorist links are suspected," the officicial told AFP, asking not to be named, after the explosion in the Sultanahmet district of Turkey's biggest city. Ambulances and police were despatched to Sultanahmet, the city's main tourist hub, which is home to world-famous monuments including the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia, television reports said.
