South Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin of the LA Dodgers... will become the second Korean player to start on opening day in Major League Baseball.
Manager Dave Roberts announced on Friday,... that Ryu would start in the Dodgers' first game of the season... at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In 2001, Korean baseball legend Park Chan-ho ... also of the LA Dodgers,... became the first-ever Korean to pitch on opening day in the MLB.
Ryu said the news caught him by surprise,... but added that it was a "special" privilege to start on opening day.
