U.S. confirms N. Korea's test-fire as 'new tactical guided weapon'
U.S. Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan confirmed North Korea's latest inspection and test-fire as a "new tactical guided weapons firing test" and not a "ballistic missile".
Speaking to reporters on Thursday,... Shanahan added that there was no change to the U.S. military operations or posture as a result of the test.
AP reported that this marks the first time a U.S. government official has publicly confirmed North Korea's state media reports on weapons tests by the reclusive state.
This comes after Pyeongyang's state-run Korean Central News Agency reported Wednesday that Kim Jong-un had inspected and directed the weapons test.
The day before the test, Kim reviewed an air force flight exercise.
