The number of people caught drunk driving has fallen by 28 percent since the implementation of tougher punishments last December.
And according to the Korean National Police Agency on Tuesday, there were 3-thousand-2-hundred-12 traffic accidents caused by drunk driving from January to March this year --- a 35 percent decrease from the same period last year.
This follows the implementation of the Yoon Chang-ho Act last December, giving longer prison terms to those who cause death while driving under the influence.
The police are planning more publicity activities to let people know about the dangers of drunk driving.
