The Platters - Sixteen Tons

The talented group, The Platters, were influential in the early rock and roll era and achieved over forty hit singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart between 1955 and 1967, four of which were number ones.

Originally, Tennessee Ernie Ford reached the charts at number one with the song in 1955. The Platters first recorded their version of "Sixteen Tons" on the Mercury label in 1957.
