Cargo movie trailer (2019) Plot synopsis; Kevin Pinder, is a fisherman whose life isunraveling. Fish stocks are low, his boat is broken, he owes tuition for his son at an expensive private school and his home life is in shambles with his agoraphobic wife and mother who suffers from dementia. The only way Kevin is able to achieve any sort of release is through gambling. After wasting all of his remaining funds at a gambling house he is approached by a security guard, Mark, who suggests that Kevin supplement his income by using his fishing vessel as a means to transport people illegally into the United States. At first, Kevin dismisses this as a viable option but when pressures mount for him to perform financially he returns to Mark and accepts the offer.
Mark introduces Kevin to a man called Major who provides the immigrants for Kevin to transport. The nearest Bahamian island to the United States is Bimini, which lies only fifty miles off the coast of Miami Beach. Kevin’s job will be to transport these migrants from Nassau to Bimini. Once in Bimini, a speedboat has been arranged to take the migrants to Florida. After Kevin successfully transports a group to Bimini he is able to briefly alleviate his problems and slowly his life begins to change for the better. This allows him to provide health care for his mother, soothe his wife’s anxiety, and make a substantial deposit on his son’s education.
Soon the need for more funds consumes Kevin, as he has not been able to curb his appetite for high risk gambling, and the demands from his family increase. The relationship between Mark, Kevin, and Major then becomes strained when Kevin finds out he has actually been abandoning migrants on the island - there was never any speedboat. Kevin sets out on his own in delivering migrants to the United States directly from Nassau. In his mind, he is doing the right thing in providing a true service but it also is enticing that he is able to get more money. This means he must take a longer and riskier journey. Kevin then leads scores of other migrants on a final journey that is treacherous, unsettling, and one that will sadly result in only one of our characters walking away with their life.
