predict that 60 percent of meat products consumed in 2040
will not be created through traditional animal slaughter. Instead, a majority of meat products will be
either plant-based alternatives or cultured meat. An estimated $1 billion has already been invested
into plant-based meat replacements through
companies like Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods. Cultured meat prototypes have also been successfully
produced by extracting cells from living animals
