President Moon was in Northern Europe for a week, and while there he called on multiple occasions for dialogue to resume between the two Koreas... and between the North and the United States.
He says he hopes he'll have another meeting soon with Kim Jong-un... and that Kim will also have one with U.S. President Donald Trump.
But North Korea has said nothing.
Park Hee-jun has this report.
Throughout his three-nation tour to Northern Europe last week,... President Moon Jae-in expressed optimism toward resuming talks between South and North Korea,... as well as between North Korea and the U.S.
He said efforts to revive dialogue with the North are ongoing,... raising hopes of some kind of a breakthrough.
President Moon repeatedly said that another inter-Korean summit needs to take place within this month.
"President Trump is scheduled to visit South Korea at the end of June. If possible, I think it's desirable that I meet Chairman Kim Jong-un before that. But that is Chairman Kim's decision."
He also called on Pyeongyang and Washington to meet for lower-level talks,... to move forward in their nuclear negotiations.
"To make concrete steps forward in North Korea-U.S. negotiations, I believe the two sides need to hold working-level talks first."
But despite the repeated messages, the North is yet to respond.
North Korea appears to be more cautious since its summit with the U.S. in Hanoi ended prematurely.
Attention is on U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun's rare, week-long stay in Seoul next week.
There is a possibility that during his stay, the two sides could sit down for working-level negotiations at Panmunjeom,... which could help denuclearization talks gain momentum.
And with a series of meetings between relevant parties planned during the upcoming G20 Summit in Japan,... the month of June could be a chance to rebuild momentum toward lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
But that starts with the North Korean leader's decision.
