Volkswagen drives fully automated

The Volkswagen Group is testing automated vehicles in Hamburg's public city traffic. This is the first time that automated driving up to level 4 in a major German city of Volkswagen has been tested under real conditions. From now on, an e-Golf fleet of five vehicles equipped with laser scanners, cameras, ultrasonic sensors and radars will run on a three-kilometer section of the test track for automated and networked driving (TAVF) in the Hanseatic city. The results of the trips, which are continuously evaluated by the group research taking into account all data protection regulations, are to be used for the group's numerous research projects on autonomous driving, the testing of customer-oriented services and the optimization of individual traffic.
