Trump Sets Up Massive Ams Sales To Saudis, UAE, In Defiance Of Congress
  • 5 years ago
According to a report by Reuters, on Friday, US President Donald Trump swept aside objections from Congress and cleared the sale of 8 billion dollars worth of weapons to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan, citing a national emergency because of tensions with Iran. The Trump administration reportedly informed congressional committees that it will go ahead with 22 military sales, infuriating lawmakers by circumventing a long-standing precedent for congressional review of such sales. Reuters reports that a wide range of products and services would be provided to the three countries, including Raytheon precision-guided munitions (PGMs), support for Boeing Co F-15 aircraft, and Javelin anti-tank missiles.
